We have a new batch of local student-athletes this week who have proven themselves worthy in their respective fields.

Connor Houghton, Lacrosse, Egg Harbor Township - He set a school record for points in a single game when, tallying four scores and seven assists on Wednesday in a 17-6 victory over Ocean City. Earlier in the week, Houghton scored twice in an 8-3 win at Middle Township, helping hand the Panthers their first CAL defeat of the season. Both victories avenged earlier losses and the Eagles have now won seven of eight games.

 

Emma Neuweiler, Softball, Pinelands - The Wildcats' pitching ace shut down Barnegat on the road, helping her team lock up a Shore Conference B South championship. She went the distance, striking out seven batters in a 3-0 victory.

 

Louie Parks, Lacrosse, Oakcrest - He pushed the Falcons' record to 11-2 with a game-winning goal against Cherry Hill East. Parks put Oakcrest in front 10-9 with a score in overtime. It was his third goal of the game and he added an assist.

 

David Hicks, Golf, Middle Township - The sophomore standout edged St. Augustine's Mark Benevento in a pressure-packed playoff to earn an individual Cape-Atlantic League golf title at Wildwood Golf Club. Hicks overcame rough weather and a talented crop of opponents, overcoming Benevento, a fellow sophomore, on the third playoff hole after each finished with a score of 76 in the 18-hole tournament.

 

Riley Dolan, Lacrosse, Mainland - She became the program's first player to surpass the 100-goal mark before her senior season. The junior scored six times in a 21-14 win over Egg Harbor Township. Dolan now has 102 career goals to her credit.
