Meanwhile, we have a new batch of local student-athletes who have proven themselves on the field this week. You can vote for your pick, and hear the winner announced on the South Jersey Sports Report with Tyler Donohue Saturday morning at 9:00.

Sean Milligan, Soccer, Absegami – His game-winning goal sent the top-seeded Braves into the South Jersey Group IV semifinal round. Milligan scored to break a scoreless stalemate in the second overtime of a quarterfinal game against visiting Cherokee.

Emily DeMarco, Field Hockey, St. Joe  – The senior tallied her 39th goal of the season while leading the Wildcats to a South Jersey Group I field hockey championship. She also fired to shots on net that resulted in scoring deflections.

Danielle Leavitt, Cross Country, Lacey Township  – The junior standout earned a second consecutive South Jersey Group III championship. She completed the course in 19:23, finishing 24 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor.

Stefon Bowman, Football, Bridgeton  – The Bulldogs running back came up big in a must-win game. Bowman rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns to help Bridgeton top Vineland, 36-30. His second score won the game in overtime and sent the Bulldogs into the South Jersey Group III playoffs.
