Eagles' best number: 2 (Turnovers forced by the defense)

Eagles' worst number: 203 (Combined receiving yards by Bucky Irving (102) and Emeka Egbuka (101)

View from my living room:
I switched over to the Ryder Cup during commercials and saw the United States stage an impressive comeback that fell just short.

Three stars

  1. Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (2 touchdowns).
  2. Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield (2 touchdown passes, 289 passing yards).
  3. Bucs place-kicker Chase McLaughlin (65- and 58-yard field goals).

Eagles’ best play

Special teams came through for the second straight game. Cameron Latu burst up the middle at the end of the Bucs’ opening possession and blocked punter Riley Dixon’s kick. Sydney Brown grabbed and ran 35 yards for the TD. It marked the first time the Eagles have returned blocked kicks for touchdowns in back-to-back games since 2014.

Eagles’ worst play

Bucs Running Back Bucky Irving caught a deep pass from Mayfield in the fourth quarter against Eagles rookie linebacker Jihad Campbell and raced 72 yards for a touchdown that cut the Eagles’ lead to 31-20.

Turning point

The Eagles were clinging to a 31-23 lead when Mayfield drove the Bucs’ to the 11-yard line. Campbell made up for his earlier miscue with a diving interception in the end zone.

Did you notice?

The Eagles were battling some injuries on the offensive line. Right guard Tyler Steen missed some time before returning to the game. Right tackle Lane Johnson was sidelined again and replaced by Fred Johnson.… The Eagles were called for three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.… TV cameras caught Eagles coach Nick Sirianni jawing at Mayfield just before Mayfield threw two long TD passes.… Eagles running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 43 yards on 17… Wide receiver A.J. Brown had two receptions for 7 yards.… McLaughlin’s 65-yard field goal was a Tampa franchise record.
