Wow!! What a week for our Philly sports teams. The Flyers eliminate the Penguins and move onto the second round of the NHL playoffs. The Phillies fire their manager Rob Tompson and hire Don Mattingly and the 76ers force a game seven against the Boston Celtics. Let’s start with the Flyers.

The Flyers advance to the second round of the NHL playoff and face the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. The Flyers beat the Penquins in dramatic fashion Wednesday night winning 1-0 with 2:58 left in overtime. Rick Tocchet has the Flyers playing at a high level and faces former Flyer and teammate Rod Brind'Amour’s Carolina Hurricanes.  The Canes went 3-0-1 during the regular season with each game ended in a shootout and were very close. Can the Flyers pull off another upset?

The Philadelphia 76ers forced a game seven in their first round playoff against the Boston Celtics by defeating the Celtics Thursday night 106-93. Who would’ve thought this was possible? My Co-host/producer Nick Earnshaw did, but nobody else!! Both teams play Saturday night. We will get you ready for both games!!

On top of all that Saturday morning The Locker Room will be broadcasting Live at the Cooper River Park at the Down & Derby festival prior to the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby is the first race in the triple crown and is the most prestigious horse race of them all.

Oh yeah, and the Phillies are on a three-game winning streak since the Phillies fired Rob Thomson and promoted Don Mattingly as their interim manager.  The Phillies also won both games of their doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants in dramatic fashion by earning two walk-off wins on the same day.  Kyle Schwarber homered in both games. We will cover it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.

On Saturday’s show, we will broadcast Live from the Cooper River Park at the Down & Derby wine festival.  Join me, Nick Earnshaw, director of the Camden County commissioners Lou Cappelli, and Jeffrey Nash purveyor of the fastlanehandicapper.com and we will hear from South Jersey Hall of Fame jockey who raced in the Kentucky Derby Tony Black.

In Hour Two, we will preview the Flyers vs Hurricanes game one of the second round of the NHL playoffs. The 76ers play game seven against the Boston Celtics Saturday night so the remote will be working overtime. The Phillies are in Miami to face the Marlins for three games. What a Saturday: the Phillies at 4:10, post time for the Kentucky Derby is set for 6:57pm, the Sixers at 7:30pm, and the Flyers drop the puck after 8pm.!!!

On Sunday’s show, Josh Hennig jumps into the Producer's char and my intern Erin Ewing join me in the studio.  We will recap all the Saturday action!  We’ll go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by Blitz’s market of Ocean City.  Tommy talks Phillies baseball in the days after firing Rob Thomson.  In Hour Two, Mr. Negadelphia P.J. Corda checks is brought to you by the Vassar pool Service, followed by Fran Mclaughlin with his “High School Athletes in the Spotlight” brought to you by the Philly Pretzel Factory of EHT.

Phillies, Flyers, Sixers talk and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, every Saturday and Sunday morning from 10am to Noon on 97.3 FM ESPN radio South Jersey
