Willie McGinest: Eagles Defense Has Gotten Better
In Week One, the Eagles Defense had a impressive performance in front of the raucous crowd at Lincoln Financial Field holding the Atlanta Falcons Offense and their star players to just 299 Total Yards. The Falcons have averaged 25.2 Points Per Game over the last four seasons but the Eagles Defense held them to just 12 Points while registering 13 Quarterback Hits to disrupt Matt Ryan's ability to orchestrate the offense. Jordan Hicks had a great all-around game compiling Five Solo Tackles, 1.5 Sacks, and One Pass Defended while Fletcher Cox had Seven Quarterback Pressures.
3-Time Super Bowl Champion and 2-Time Pro Bowl Linebacker Willie McGinest joined Mike Gill on Tuesday with his perspective on the Eagles Defense after Week One:
“The defense has gotten better and that’s dangerous for the rest of the league. What saw with (their) front four or six because they rotate guys, the plays that they made, (making) it so uncomfortable for Matt Ryan all night, they played great in the Red Zone, they didn’t give up Touchdowns, they made (the Falcons) settle for Field Goals – To be able to stop a high powered offense like that…what counts is when you don’t give up the Touchdowns, I don’t care about yards (allowed) as much as I do not letting teams in get the End Zone or give up the big plays and they did a phenomenal job.”
