Zack Wheeler to Start Monday for Reeling Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies veteran starting pitcher Zack Wheeler will come off the paternity list to make his first start in 11 days on Monday against the Chicago Cubs.
The club will have to make a roster move before Monday's game with the Cubs before activating Wheeler.
Who Might Be Sent Down?
The Phillies have a few options to consider before activating Wheeler.
They could send down struggling utility man Weston Wilson, who is hitting .152 with a .282 WHIP, adding just one home run and three RBI. They could also send right-handed pitcher Daniel Robert, who was recalled from Lehigh Valley on Saturday, back to Triple-A. Two other candidates include Otto Kemp and Max Lazar.
Wheeler struggled in his last start on May 29, giving up six runs on four hits in 5.1 innings before landing on the paternity list.
Wheeler’s 2025 Stats So Far
Outside of that start, Wheeler has been impressive for the Phillies. Through 12 starts this season, the 35-year-old has an ERA of 2.96 and a 0.92 WHIP on the season for Philadelphia.
