The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Hasheem Thabeet and cash to the 76ers on Tuesday  for a protected second-round draft pick in 2015, thus acquiring a $1.3 million trade exception.

The Sixers, according to sources, are expected to immediately waive the former No. 2 overall pick, while Oklahoma City will create a trade exception worth $1.25 million by shipping Thabeet out without taking back any salary.

Thabeet, the No. 2 pick in the 2009 draft, fell out of Oklahoma City’s rotation this past season amid the emergence of rookie Steven Adams. The 27-year-old Thabeet saw action in just 23 games with an average of 8.3 minutes per appearance.
