Kurt Rambis on Andrew Bynum

Former Lakers star and Assistant Coach under the Lakers with Andrew Bynum, Kurt Rambis, called in and broke down the Andrew Bynum trade to Philadelphia.  Rambis said the transformation won't happen overnight, the Sixers acquired a player who is just coming into his own.  He can now show people what he's all about as a basketball player.  One thing to keep in mind is that the Sixers will still need to find a closer in late-game situations because of the defense Bynum will face in the 4th quarter.  Bynum of course had one of the greatest closers of all time in Kobe Bryant for some years.  Kurt Rambis is an NBA analyst for ESPN and Sportscenter.

Return of East Coast/West Coast

Todd Ranck, host of "Sportsbash Warmup" called in with the return of East Coast/West Coast!  Ranck is out in Los Angeles, the city that just acquired Dwight Howard and traded Andrew Bynum to the Sixers.  Ranck isn't the biggest of Andrew Bynum fan and it puts the Sixers in that 4/5 position in the Eastern Conference.  Ranck returns from vacation on Thursday afternoon.

Marc Spears, Yahoo!

NBA Writer, Yahoo! Sports called in and told us how this deal all went down.  Spears says he fully expects Bynum to live up to the challenge and he could always tell with Bynum that he "yearned for more," with Kobe Bryant there he was never going to be "the man." Philadelphia is a hard-working town and Bynum "is Philadelphia, he will bring his lunchbox."

Beto Duran, 710-ESPN

Beto Duran, who was on with us on yesterday's show before the trade went down called in and talked to us more about the player that is Andrew Bynum.  Duran doesn't think that at this stage of his career he can win an NBA Championship by himself.  Duran also said something interested about the way Bynum takes care of his body in that he doesn't do your traditional weight-lifting, he'll fly around the country looking for different techniques and strategies to get it right.  The knock on Bynum is that he's inconsistent and can give the coach of the team issues, i.e. Phil Jackson and Mike Brown. Tony DiLeo Senior VP Basketball Operations

DiLeo said the negotiations all started about 3 weeks ago and it finally came out publicly yesterday.  From the Sixers standpoint, it was very complicated with 4 teams, 12 players and multiple draft picks.  Orlando specifically liked Moe Harkless, who the Sixers drafted this season.  The Magic are going through a transition period and they wanted young players, cap relief.  Iguodala needed to be included to make the salaries match-up and so entered the Denver Nuggets.  DiLeo also said that Jrue Holiday and Even Turner have to step up and fill the void that Iguodala is leaving.  Tony DiLeo is entering his 22nd season with the 76ers.
