Ben Simmons ‘Doubtful’ to Play for the Australian National Team
It looked like Ben Simmons was going to represent his home county of Australia and compete at this summers FIBA World Cup, but it seems he has had a change of heart.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers point guard is now doubtful to play in the FIBA World Cup, instead he is choosing to focus on the upcoming Sixers season.
Back in May, Simmons put out a video tweet saying that he was going to be a 'Boomer' this summer for the upcoming events, which are presumably the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
Now it seems that Simmons has decided to focus on the upcoming season and continue his offseason work. Teammate Tobias Harris recently said that Simmons' jumper looks good, even commenting that the 6-10 guard hit a pair of three-point shots against him.
In 2018-19, Simmons made his first NBA All-Star game, averaging 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists in just 34.2 minutes per game.
