7 Best South Jersey Irish Pubs to Visit This St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick's Day is almost here, which means it is time to start plotting your South Jersey Irish Pub Tour.
Yes, the St. Patrick's Day parade was a major success in Atlantic City, but that doesn't mean you still can't have some fun and a great pint of your favorite Irish brew on Tuesday. And yes, while gathering at an Irish Pub involves that pint, maybe a Guinness, it also involves great Irish fare, like a corned beef special, or some sort of stew!
No matter how you are celebrating, great Irish Pubs provide those classic meeting places to celebrate life and Irish heritage while enjoying a beverage (safely, of course).
So, whether it's celebrating on St. Patrick's Day on March 17th, or tapping into that Irish heritage this weekend, or next weekend, check out the finest Irish Pubs the South Jersey area has to offer, according to our friend Pete Genovese from NJ.com, who listed the 37 best Irish pubs in New Jersey for 2026.
These are the Irish Pubs from Atlantic, Cape May, or Cumberland County that made his list.
Top-Ranked Irish Pubs in South Jersey
Dooney’s Pub: A New Favorite in Egg Harbor Township
First up, I am including Dooney's Pub in Delran, which made the list at No. 37. Dooney's just opened a spot at the spot formerly occupied by The Tilton Inn, and while I haven't visited the new location yet, I have been to the one in Voorhees and enjoyed my meal and beer selection.
Dooney’s opened in 2001, an Irish pub and sports bar with 25 screens. Good craft beer selection; try Tonewood’s Fuego or Cape May Brewing’s Coastal Evacuation if available. Besides the usual sports bar standards, the menu includes Guinness beef stew, shepherd’s pie and Guinness BBQ chicken. There is another location in Voorhees.
During my stop at Dooney's, I had the Smash Tacos, which include two smashed and grilled burgers on Flour Tortillas, Sautéed Onions, Cooper Sharp American Cheese, Pickles, Shredded Lettuce, Tomato, and Thousand Island dressing.
I do see they are on the menu in EHT.
O’Donnell’s Pour House: Upscale Vibes in Sea Isle
Next, O'Donnell's Pour House in Sea Isle, coming in at No. 34 on the list, is a great Irish Pub that also includes steaks and seafood dinners, plus it is a great spot for live music.
O’Donnell’s, open since 1999, is one of the swankier spots on this list, with its casual upscale vibe. The menu goes well beyond shepherd’s pie and corned beef, with six-cheese Sacchetti pasta and Togarashi pepper seared tuna among the offerings.
They will be open starting at noon on St. Patrick's Day with a special menu all day, with DJ Tommy B spinning music at 3907 Landis Ave in Sea Isle.
Delaney’s Irish Pub & Grill: A Cape May Staple
Let's head down to Cape May, where Delaney’s Irish Pub & Grill is located at 400 Washington Street, which was No. 24 on the list.
There’s live music on the compact stage, and the menu is extensive, not just Irish standards (bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, etc.) but also chicken parm, seafood pasta, pizza, homemade chicken salad, fish sandwich and much more.
I make sure to stop in Delaney's anytime I am shopping on Washington Street during the holiday season.
Anglesea Pub: Wings and Tradition in North Wildwood
Coming in at No. 23 on the list is the Anglesea Pub, located on the corner of First and New Jersey Avenues in North Wildwood.
The Anglesea Pub is a year-round Shore bar in a rambling house. It was voted the best Irish bar in the state by Yelp, whatever that’s worth. The buffalo wings are popular, and there’s a Paddy Wagon burger (topped with bacon, melted cheddar cheese and homemade honey Guinness BBQ sauce), plus shepherd’s pie and fish n chips.
I know one thing: when I think about Anglesea Pub, I get the wings!
Josie Kelly’s Public House: The Soccer Fan’s Sanctuary
Moving to No. 13 on the list, we head to Somers Point to Josie Kelly’s Public House, 908 Shore Road.
Housed in the old Mac’s restaurant building, Josie Kelly’s is named after the owners’ grandmother. The menu is more Irish-centric than most Irish pubs; dishes include a beef and Guinness pie and an Irish poutine.
Josie Kelly's is a great spot to watch games and has plenty of live entertainment and a good menu. I have watched plenty of Phillies playoff games here since 2022, and if you are a soccer fan, this is the spot for you!
Old Oar House: Millville’s Historic Beer Garden
Moving into the Top 10, coming in at No. 7 on the list is Old Oar House, 123 N High Street in Millville.
A jersey bearing the name of baseball superstar and hometown hero Mike Trout hangs in the Old Oar House in downtown Millville. The building dates to 1883; out back is a beer garden. The restrooms are labeled “Nuts” and “No Nuts.” There are 40-plus beers on tap, including several from Jersey craft breweries. The shepherd’s pie (photo) is Irish comfort food supreme — a hearty, savory mix of ground beef and vegetables in a heavy brown gravy, topped with homemade mashed potatoes and cheese. The Guinness Irish Stew, with beef, carrots, onions, celery and diced potatoes in a Guinness gravy, is nearly as good.
I used to hit this spot a lot during the Memorial Day weekend, coaching baseball out in Millville. We stopped here for lunch between games many times. It's a great spot, with live music and a good beer selection.
The Irish Pub AC: A Legend Under Renovation
The highest-ranked spot in the area? Of course, it's the Irish Pub in Atlantic City at 164 St James Place. The one issue here is that it's temporarily closed for renovations, which means you'll have to try one of the places mentioned above for St. Patrick's Day in 2026!
It was recently named as one of the oldest Irish pubs in the country, so they deserve a little remodeling.
Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments on Facebook and enjoy St. Patrick's Day this year!
