The bye week has come at a good time for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The team is sitting at 2-2, with plenty of injuries needing to be healed up and a ton of issues that have come to the surface during their opening four-game stretch.

The Eagles are a disappointing 3-8 over their last 11 games dating back to last season, which included losing six of their final seven games. With games coming up against the Browns, Giants, Bengals, Jaguars, and Cowboys, this will be a stretch that will show if the Eagles have found a way to pull out of that funk.

What has happened to the Eagles?

"It's the way they are coached," said ESPN's Dan Orlovsky on Get Up.  "That's a poorly coached football team."

Orlovsky asks the question, going back to the start of last season, if any player on the roster has improved. "Jalen Hurts in a matter of 20 games has gone from MVP of the Super Bowl to a liability on offense."

"There is one person on that football team that pops off the tape," Orlovsky stated.  "The new guy, Saquan Barkley."

Orlovsky pointed out the fact that without both wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, the team threw passes on seven of the first nine plays in Tampa resulting in three straight three-and-outs and a 21-0 deficit.

"This is a poorly coached football team, poorly coached," Orlovsky exclaimed again.

One stat that illustrates the issues the Eagles are having on offense is how many combined sacks, interceptions, and fumbles Jalen Hurts has the past two seasons. Hurts has 82, the only two quarterbacks with more are Sam Howell with 91 and Bryce Young with 92 and neither is a starting quarterback in 2024.

"You mean to tell me in 18 months he has gone from outplaying the best going right now (Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl), on that list?  With an offensive line that is Top 5 in pass protection, he is holding the ball time-wise at 3.1 seconds?  There is a massive regression."

Is this the real Jalen Hurts?

Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas wonders if what we are seeing is just what Hurts is now.

"I'm leaning towards this is probably who Jalen Hurts is," Douglas said.

"I think it's way more on the coaching and what they are trying to do than Jalen Hurts," Orlovsly added.

Could it be that the constant change of offensive coordinator voices has caught up to Hurts, causing him to regress? The team has plenty of talent, but it seems he is taking too long to process what he is seeing, which could mean it's taking him too long to process what he is hearing from his coaches.

Hurts has had four different play-callers during his time in Philadelphia and it seems there is a growing disconnect between Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni.

Can this all be fixed?  The stretch of games coming out of the bye should tell us what we need to know.
