So far in 2018, Rhys Hoskins has shown that he is a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the Phillies lineup as the team has jumped out to a 14-7 record.  The 6'4" 25 Year Old has compiled 22 Home Runs, 67 RBI, and 65 Hits in his first 71 games in the Major Leagues.  This season, Hoskins is Ninth in the National League in Batting Average (.323), Second in RBI (19) and leads the NL in On-Base Percentage (.483).

ESPN.com Baseball Writer Jerry Crasnick joined The Sports Bash on Monday and gave a national media perspective on the Phillies young slugger:

“He’s a huge cog in the middle of (the Phillies) lineup….I think people are going to really pay attention to Rhys Hoskins but look there’s Bryce Harper and Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, there’s certain guys that hog the attention (of the national media).  The thing with Rhys Hoskins is, as good a player as he is, he has the kind of work ethic and personality that you can best appreciate over time.  He’s so steady, he’s not going to pop off, he’s not controversial, but his work ethic’s impeccable, he has leadership skills, he’s great with fans, he’s terrific with the media, he checks every box.  And he’s the kind of guy that you just watch him every single day and appreciate him even more than what you see in those numbers which in and of themselves are extremely impressive.”
