View from my living room:
Prior to the game, I attended a funeral service for former Lower Township Optimist Club member and friend Rodney Smith, who passed away at age 86. The family had placed an Eagles hat atop a collage, which included Rodney's varsity letter from Millville High School and a picture of him playing for the Thunderbolts 1954 state championship team.

Three stars
1. Eagles place-kicker Jake Elliott (4 field goals, including the game-winner in overtime).
2. Commanders quarterback Sam Howell (29-for-41, 290 yards, Touchdown pass on final play of regulation).
3. Eagles linebacker Nicolas Morrow (3 sacks).

Eagles' best play
Wide receiver A.J. Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts teamed up for a 59-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Brown caught the pass about 40 yards downfield, then weaved through the Commanders' defense en route to the end zone.

Eagles' worst play
The Commanders forced overtime when Howell fired a 10-yard strike to wide receiver Jahan Dotson in the end zone on the final play of regulation.

Turning point
The Eagles gained momentum by forcing the Commanders to punt on their first drive of overtime.  Hurts's "tush push" quarterback sneak on a fourth-and-1 from the 50-yard line helped keep their winning drive alive.

Did you notice?
The Eagles have won 22 straight when leading after three quarters.  It's the longest current streak in the NFL. ... Morrow's three sacks are the most by an Eagle in one game since defensive end Brandon Graham had three against the Giants last season on December 11. ... Brown finished with 175 receiving yards, but was called for a crucial taunting penalty after a 28-yard TD in the fourth quarter. ... Hurts threw for 319 yards and two TDs to Brown. ...
