Eagles' best number: 3 (Saquon Barkley touchdowns)

Eagles' worst number: 3 (Jalen Hurts turnovers)

View from my living room:
I prepped for the Eagles’ game by playing baseball in the backyard with 3 oldest grandsons Hampton (8), Graham (6) and Nixon (2), then got to hold my newest grandson, Whit (almost 3 weeks) for a few minutes before heading home.

Three stars

  1. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (109 rushing yards, 3 total TDs in Eagles debut).
  2. Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (138 receiving yards, 2 total TDs)
  3. Eagles linebacker Zach Baun (15 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 TFL)

Eagles’ best play

Brown gave the Eagles a 25-19 lead in the second quarter when he caught a pass over the middle from Hurts and galloped 67 yards for a  touchdown.

Eagles’ worst play

Any of Hurts’ three turnovers qualify, but we’ll go with his second interception, a throw into double coverage in the end zone that ruined the Eagles’ chance to take a commanding lead.

Turning point

Eagles safety Reed Blankenship grabbed an interception in the third quarter. Barkley scored on a 2-yard run four plays later to give the Eagles the lead for good at 31-26.

Did you notice?

Barkley became the second player to score three TDs in his Eagles debut, joining WR Terrell Owens in 2004.… The Eagles’ first two drives ended with an interception and a fumble on a botched snap by new center Cam Jurgens. It marked the first time the Eagles committed turnovers on their first two drives of a season since the 2014 opener vs. Jacksonville… The Eagles are undefeated in season openers (4-0) under coach Nick Sirianni.… Baun had the Eagles’ only sacks. … Packers WR Bo Melton (Cedar Creek HS) did not have a reception, but drew a pass interference penalty.
