The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms with veteran defensive end Kyan Kerrigan, formerly of the Washington Football Team. The deal is for one year and worth up to $3.5 million and he picked the Eagles over several teams, including the Steelers and Bengals.

Now 32, Kerrigan is no longer an every-down player, but had been one of the top pass rushers in football during his time in Washington, racking up 96 sacks since entering the league in 2011, most in Washington team history.

In 2020, Kerrigan had a part-time role, playing in 38% of the snaps on one of the league's top defensive teams.  Even though his playing time was diminished, he still managed to collect 5.5 sacks, including a huge Week 1 against Philadelphia -- with three pressures, two sacks, one QB hurry, and a fumble recovery, being named the NFC defensive player of the week.

"I know I probably wasn't your favorite player over the past decade, but Eagles fans I'm fired up to be playing for you guys now! LFG!!!" Kerrigan wrote on social media.

Kerrigan, was drafted 16th overall by Washington in the 20112 NFL Draft and has double-digit sack totals in four of his 10 NFL seasons. He has especially been a terror to the Eagles during his career, with 13.5 sacks against his new team, tied for the most against any opponent.

Philadelphia doesn't currently have a ton of depth at the defensive end position, with Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat the incumbents.  they are joined by a bunch of inexperienced players, so Kerrigan could fit right into the rotation as a situational pass-rusher, similar to the role Chris Long played in Philadelphia.
