After their first loss of the 2025 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles had to immediately turn their attention to playing on Thursday Night Football.

While the New York Giants are not one of the best teams in the league this season, the Eagles' NFC East rivals do bring a talented defensive front into the matchup. Once considered one of the best in the NFL, Philadelphia's Offensive Line is not playing as well in years past and is nowhere close to healthy.

On Wednesday, the Eagles ruled out Pro Bowl Left Guard Landon Dickerson, who is dealing with an Ankle Injury he sustained in the loss to the Denver Broncos. Center Cam Jurgens has admitted to the media recently that he is playing hurt, and All-Pro Right Tackle Lane Johnson has left multiple games this season dealing with injuries.

Who Else Has Been Ruled Out For Thursday Night Football

After dealing with a Shoulder Issue in recent weeks, Eagles Defensive Lineman Jalen Carter was listed as Questionable on the Eagles Injury Report with a Heel Injury. After going out for warmups around 6:20pm, Carter retreated to the locker room, and 15 minutes later it was announced he was ruled out for Thursday Night Football.

The Eagles were prepared for the possibility of having to play without Carter when they called up Defensive Tackle Gabe Hall from the Practice Squad. The 24-year-old spent his rookie year as a depth player for the 2024 Eagles team that won Super Bowl 59.

The other player Philadelphia ruled out for the matchup with the Giants 30 hours ahead of kickoff is Backup Tight End Grant Calcaterra. He is dealing with an Oblique Injury, so the Eagles will lean on Kylen Granson and Cameron Latu to fill the void behind starting Tight End Dallas Goedert.

After being listed as Questionable on the Eagles Injury Report, the team decided to activate Linebacker Nakobe Dean for the game on Thursday Night. This will be the 24-year-old Linebacker's first game back on the field since suffering a torn patellar tendon back in January against the Green Bay Packers. Dean had the second-most Solo Tackles on the Eagles Defense during the 2024 season.

-LG Landon Dickerson
-WR Xavier Gipson
-QB Sam Howell (Emergency 3rd QB)
-CB Mac McWilliams

The Giants Are Short-handed too on Thursday Night Football

After Wide Receiver Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending Knee Injury, the New York Offense got more bad news with week with another Receiver, Darius Slayton, was ruled out for Thursday Night with a Hamstring Injury.

The Giants have elevated Linebacker Zaire Barnes and WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey from their practice squad for Thursday Night Football. Barnes is a former Jets Linebacker whose career has been derailed by injuries. Humphrey has started 23 games in the NFL and has seven receiving touchdowns for Head Coach Sean Payton during their time together in New Orleans and Denver.

These elevations are in direct response to the Giants having to play without WR Darius Slayton along with Linebackers LB Swayze Bozeman (Ankle Injury), and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (Hamstring Injury).
