These Former Phillies All-Stars Elected To 2025 Hall Of Fame Class
For the first time in 30 years, there will be two former Phillies players who will be entering the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the same class of inductees. In 1995, Philadelphia Sports fans got to see Legends Richie Ashburn and Mike Schmidt enter the Hall of Fame together.
Now the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Inductees will also feature two former Phillies All-Stars from different eras of Major League Baseball History.
Back in December 2024, the National Baseball Hall of Fame announced the Classic Era Committee had selected Seven-time All-Star Dick Allen to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Allen played nine seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies (1963-69, 1975-76) during which he compiled 204 Home Runs, which is 10th most in Phillies Franchise History.
Allen is one of 31 players in MLB History who have won Rookie of the Year and later an MVP Award. The only Phillies players on the list aside from Dick Allen are Bryce Harper, Ryan Howard, and Pete Rose.
Who Will Be Joining Dick Allen on the list of 2025 Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees?
Receiving votes on 82.5 percent of Baseball Writers' Association of America Ballots is seven-time All-Star Selection Billy Wagner. The Left-Handed Pitcher was the Phillies Closer for Two seasons (2004-05).
Wagner has the eighth most Saves in MLB History (422) and had 59 Saves during his two seasons with Philadelphia. In 2005, Billy Wager had 70 Games Finished, which is the most in a single season in Phillies History. Also, his 38 Saves that season is tied for 7th most in a single season in Franchise History.
The Phillies acquired Wagner from the Houston Astros ahead of the 2004 season in exchange for Ezequiel Astacio, Taylor Buchholz, and Brandon Duckworth. Billy Wagner is the Astros All-Time Franchise Leader in Saves (225).
Phillies Legends Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins did not receive enough votes for Hall of Fame Induction. Utley (39.8%) and Rollins (18%) fell short of the minimum 75 percent of votes.
Utley and Rollins are among the most popular Phillies players during their playing days in Philadelphia. Here are the most popular Phillies players during the 2024 MLB Season based on Jersey Sales:
