Golic Jr: Eagles Have 3 OL Among The Best At Their Positions
Heading into the 2017 season, there are high expectations for the Eagles' Offensive Line that features two Tackles who rank among the best in the league at their positions in Lane Johnson and Jason Peters along with a Center who is a two-time Pro Bowl selection in Jason Kelce. Pro Football Focus ranked the Eagles Offensive Line the top unit in the NFL heading into the 2017 season, projecting Allen Barbre as the starter at Left Guard and Brandon Brooks at Right Guard.
ESPN Radio Host Mike Golic Jr, who started 17 Games on Notre Dame's Offensive Lineman during his collegiate career, joined The Sports Bash on Wednesday and gave his perspective on the Eagles Offensive Line heading into 2017:
"I actually popped some tape in on them not too long ago; It is a very good group. Now Pro Football Focus, their grading system takes into account some very specific things. I am not going to say they are the best (Offensive Line) top to bottom, they might be inside the top ten of offensive lines especially at Tackle and Center. We know Guard was kind of an area of weakness for them last year. Between (Jason) Kelce, (Jason) Peters and Lane Johnson, provided he can stay on the field after what we saw last year, you have three guys who are among the best at their respective positions across the board. If you can get improved play from the Guard spots, you’ve absolutely got a group capable of protecting their franchise player in Carson Wentz. While I don’t think they are the best, they are close. They are improved just Guard play from being one of the better units because they already have marquee talent at three very important spots."
