Is Stauskas Good Enough To Be Part Of Sixers Moving Forward?
Nik Stauskas is in his second season in Philadelphia and in 2016-2017 he has improved statistically with better Field Goal Percentage (38.5 to 41.1), Three Point Shooting (32.6% to 38.2%), and Points Per Game (8.5 to 9.3). Stauskas was drafted 8th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft and so far has not lived up to the expectations placed on him after he was the Big Ten Player of The Year at the University of Michigan in 2013-2014 season.
Philadelphia Daily News Sixers Beat Writer Bob Cooney joined The Sports Bash on Monday and discussed if Stauskas fits into the Sixers plans moving forward:
"He has played well of late and he has had a decent year. Can you upgrade on that? That's what (Sixers) are going to have to figure that out; Is there somebody you can get in the draft that's a better Nik Stauskas? A better shooter, a better defender, a better scorer; Nik Stauskas came in labeled as just a shooter and he has told me through out, ever since this team has gotten him, that's he's not just a shooter. He says 'I'm a scorer, I'm better at scoring then I am at just shooting' and he has shown an ability to take the ball to the basket, he's got to improve a little bit defensively. But if he can give you that spark, if he can give you something off the bench moving forward that's not a bad piece to have. But like I said, you just have to look at are you upgrading or are these guys good enough moving forward to be your good second unit."
