Flyers vs. Oilers Preview: The Best of the West
After starting the season 6-1-0 on home ice through seven games, the last handful have been a struggle. Two regulation losses to close out a five-game homestand and an overtime loss upon returning home last Saturday have left the Flyers without a win at home since Oct. 30.
The next opponent into Xfinity Mobile Arena doesn't make the task any easier. The Edmonton Oilers, back-to-back Western Conference champions, are next for the Flyers on Wednesday night.
Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
Matvei Michkov has goals in back-to-back games and appears to be unlocking his offensive touch. The first two goals of his NHL career came against the Oilers last season.
Connor McDavid is being his usual self to start the season, up to 24 points in 17 games. He has 10 points in the last five games and 16 in the last 10 games.
Dan Vladar gets the start for the Flyers. Vladar made 23 saves on 24 shots to get back into the win column last Thursday against Nashville.
Stuart Skinner gets the start for the Oilers. Skinner made 18 saves on 22 shots in a win over Columbus on Tuesday. Skinner has allowed three goals or more in nine of his 12 starts this season.
Projected Lineups
Lineup Notes
- Flyers: Tyson Foerster returns to the lineup after missing four games with a lower-body injury. Nick Deslauriers comes back into the lineup for Nikita Grebenkin.
- Oilers: The Oilers are without Ryan Nugent-Hopkins due to injury. They are also still missing Zach Hyman and Kasperi Kapanen.
