Phillies Hopes Fade with Summer Sun with Eagles Season Coming

The Philadelphia Phillies gave us hope that they were going to contend for the National League East as late as August 14th.  The excitement was real, baseball conversation was relevant and the fans showed up at Citizens Bank Park.  However as the summer sun fades, so are the Phillies.  The team has lost 10 of it’s last 14 games and have fallen five games behind the first place Atlanta Braves.  To add insult to injury, First Baseman Rhys Hoskins returned to the lineup after missing 14 games, slugged three home runs but appeared to reinjure his groin and appears he was never fully recovered.  Yesterday Hoskins told the media his season is over and will have lower abdominal surgery.  With 36 games remaining in the season, the Phillies will have to rely on their bench if they want to make a run. 

The Philadelphia Eagles play their third and final preseason game Friday Night against the New York Jets.  The Eagles need to make a better showing than they did last Thursday night against the Patriots.  Will Jalen Hurts get enough preseason reps to convince the fans that he is ready to go on Sept, 12th in Atlanta?  According to Head Coach Nick Sirianni, Hurts is getting plenty of reps at Joint Practices with the Patriots and Jets.  Can we just trust what the coaches are saying that they are ready for the 2021 NFL season?

On Sunday’s show Pete Thompson returns to the studio to energize the show!!  The Eagles will dominate the first hour and we will talk with the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 2002 QB Rich Gannon.  Rich, who is an NFL Analyst for CBS Sports, will give his impressions on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and what to expect from this year's Birds. Plus we will have Phillies talk and more.
