Phillies Hot Streak Continues while Lifeguard Racing Season Begins
The 2023 Lifeguard races begin Friday night in Longport with the Michael McGrath Memorials and the Cape May County Lifeguard Championships are being hosted in Wildwood Crest. The first Friday in July starts this year's racing season as each Beach Patrol from different South Jersey coastal communities competes for bragging rights. These races are great summer entertainment and the competition typically brings out many locals who are supporting their respective town's Beach Patrols. The Locker Room will have all the Lifeguard races covered throughout the summer with interviews with the winners every Saturday morning from Friday night's action.
As the summer heats up, so are the Phillies; The Phillies have won 9 of their last 10 games and swept one of the best teams in baseball, the Tampa Bay Rays. Finally, the Phillies are getting timely hitting to go along with fabulous pitching, they are playing like the team we saw make a run to the World Series last year and it’s fun to watch! The Phillies have now won 12 straight road games, just one shy of the team record. The team now heads to Miami to face the Marlins for the final three games before the MLB All-Star Break. The Phillies are scheduled to start their three best starting pitchers this weekend with Zack Wheeler taking the mound on Friday Night, Ranger Suarez on Saturday afternoon, and Aaron Nola in the series finale on Sunday.
On Saturday’s show, Mike Carlin will join me in the studio as we will react to the Phillies' winning streak and how the Sixers' Harden trade saga continues plus we will discuss all the rumors to date. In Hour Two is the Beach Patrol Report brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association. Every Saturday we will provide comprehensive coverage of all the races with interviews with the winners and review what it means as the racing season moves forward.
On Sunday’s show, The Locker Room Youth Movement is back in the studio with Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds joining me with their fresh perspective on the week in sports. Every Sunday we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies Pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by the John R. Elliott Hero Foundation for Designated Drivers. Tommy Talks Phillies baseball with us and previews Sunday’s first half of the season finale against the Marlins.
All that and more this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to Noon on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey.
