Phillies Players Decide Not Play In Solidarity With Other Sports
Thursday Night's Philadelphia Phillies game versus the Washington Nationals will not be played as previously scheduled:
After the Phillies players met together earlier today, they decided to show solidarity with other professional athletes across the country after the NBA cancelled their games on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, players decided around Major League Baseball to not play last night in the aftermath of the NBA and WNBA deciding to not play.
2011 National League MVP and Milwaukee Brewers First Baseman Ryan Braun explained to the media last night why players have decided take this stand now:
MLB is in a different situation than other sports because their players have an agreement in place where the athletes can vote to not play under the guidelines agreed to as part of Baseball's return from the COVID-19 Pandemic shutdown back in March. Meanwhile, the Phillies are not the only teams not playing baseball today
