Eagles' best number: 2 (Blocked field goals by Eagles)

Eagles' worst number: 112 (Puka Nacua receiving yards)

View from my living room:
My oldest grandson, Hampton (9), attended his first Eagles game today and saw an instant classic. Ironically, his father, Kyle, saw one in his first game when the Eagles beat the Bengals 44-42 in 1997.

 Three stars

  1. Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis (blocked field goal return for touchdown, key fourth-down tackle earlier in the game).
  2. Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (6 catches, 109 yards, 1 TD).
  3. Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (11 catches, 112 yards).

Eagles’ best play

Duh. Davis blocked Joshua Karty’s 44-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation, then rumbled 61 yards to the opposite end zone as time expired for a touchdown. It was the Eagles’ first blocked field goal returned for a touchdown since October 23, 2005, when Matt Ware scored on a 65-yard return on a Quentin Mikell block against Chargers place-kicker Nate Kaeding.

Eagles’ worst play

Eagles backup tackle Matt Pryor surrendered a strip sack against Rams linebacker Jared Verse on the second play from scrimmage in the second half. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford hit running back Kyren Williams for a 10-yard TD on the next play to give the Rams a 26-7 lead.

Turning point

The Eagles were trailing 26-21 when defensive tackle Jalen Carter blocked Karty’s 36-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a 4-yard TD pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith on the ensuing drive to put the Eagles ahead 27-26.

Did you notice?

Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson suffered a neck injury on the first series and did not return. Matt Pryor replaced him and struggled, then was benched in favor of Fred Johnson. …

The Eagles scored on their first possession after linebacker Zack Baun’s interception, then had minus-10 yards for the rest of the first half. … Davis also chased down Stafford to make a stop, then teamed with Carter to stuff Williams for a 1-yard loss on a fourth-and-1 play.
