It looks like the Eagles will be without two key offensive pieces when they host the New England Patriots on Sunday in Philadelphia . Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has already been ruled out, and it now looks like running back Jordan Howard will join him on the sidelines according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Eagles signed running back Jay Ajayi earlier this week, and he is expected to play.

On Friday, Doug Pederson, was asked if there was any scenario where he could see Ajayi having a role in the game and he said, "Yeah, I think so."

Howard did not practice this week, and his status moving forward remains week to week. He reportedly has a stinger, which hew suffered in the teams win over the Bears.

"He did sustain late in the game against the Bears, he did sustain what would be defined as a stinger," Pederson said. "He's been cleared to do some sort of individual work in practice, but he hasn't been cleared for contact yet."

"Therefore, that's where he is at."

Miles Sanders will likely see an increased workload, and is expected to see "far more" carries than Ajayi according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Eagles are down to Sanders, Boston Scott and Ajayi as their long healthy running backs for the game.
