The Phillies had Mike Maddux, brother of Greg Maddux.  The Phillies employed Ken Brett, brother of George Brett.  And there was also Jeremy Giambi, brother of Jason Giambi.  Let us not forget Vince DiMaggio.   The "wrong brother" discussion around the Phillies has been around for a while.  But the Phillies appear poised to add another brother of a major league star.

MLB insider Hector Gomez reports that the Phillies have verbally agreed to sign international free agent Kenny Acuña:

Kenny Acuña, brother of Ronald and Luisangel Acuña, has verbally agreed to join #Phillies and wouldn't be eligible to formally sign until international free agent class in January 2028.

A player must be 16 years old to sign by September 1.  So doing the math, Acuña is still just 12 or 13 years old.

Being that age, there is not much in terms of a scouting report or performance numbers to discuss.

There is evidence that it is in the family blood beyond Ronald Acuña.  Luisangel Acuña was signed by the Texas Rangers in 2019.  He was traded to the New York Mets as the centerpiece of the Max Scherzer trade at the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline.  He is considered the Mets top prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Will the Phillies hit on a brother this time?  It's possible.  But for now, it's all about the family blood.
