Brett Brown is starting to fill up his coaching staff.

According to reports, the newly hired coach has hired Lloyd Pierce as an assistant.

Most recently Pierce was an assistant head coach in Memphis with the Grizzlies under the now departed Lionel Hollins.

Pierce worked with Hollins from 2011-13 and has been labeled as one of the NBA's best assistant head coaches.

Pierce was rumored to be in the mix for the Sixers head coaching vacancy  last month, but his name eventually fizzled out.

During his introductory press conference, head coach Brett Brown told the media that he hoped to have a full coaching staff in place "before the end of the month."

Brown was hired by general manager Sam Hinkie in early August, incumbent assistants including  Michael Curry and Aaron McKie were subsequently not retained days later.

The Sixers have experienced a complete overhaul in the last six months with the departures of Doug Collins, Rod Thorn and Tony DiLeo.

Pierce has also spent time as an assistant in Golden State and in Cleveland as player development coordinator.
