Sixers president Rod Thorn said Spencer Hawes will be in a walking boot "for a while."

According to a tweet from Sixers beat writer Tom Moore, of www.phillyburbs.com Thorn doesn't see any way Hawes will play before the All-Star break, meaning the contract-year center is out at least four more games. We should know more after he meets with a specialist in Los Angeles. Hawes has appeared in just 14 of the Sixers' 30 games, leaving rookies Lavoy Allen and Nikola Vucevic to man the center spot.

The Sixers are missing his high-post passing and 8.3 rebounds per game.  While he isn't the best post defender, he gives the Sixers some size and the ability to pull the opposing center out of the paint with his perimeter game.

However, the Sixers should not rush him back, they are firmly entrenched in the playoff picture and have played well enough without him, but he could be a nice addition for playoff positioning later in the season.
