Sixers Draft 2025: Sixers Eye Tre Johnson Amid Long Losing Streak
It’s been a brutal ride in Philly. The Sixers have dropped 12 straight games — but the tank may finally pay off.
Sixers' Losing Streak and Draft Implications
The only positive? They are one of the five worst teams in the league, meaning the Sixers' lottery odds to land a Top 5 pick in June's NBA Draft are pretty substantial. If they fall outside the Top 6, their pick goes to Oklahoma City from a 2020 trade with the Thunder, involving Al Horford in exchange for Danny Green and draft compensation — a Top 6 protected first-round pick in 2025.

They can add another high-quality player via the 2025 NBA Draft, and ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo mocked Philadelphia selecting Texas guard Tre Johnson with the 5th overall pick, one of the top 2025 NBA Draft prospects.
The Sixers, already eliminated from the postseason, would be thrilled to keep their pick after a miserable season and could have interest in adding a 19-year-old wing who'd bring plenty of scoring power.
Johnson averaged 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, shooting 39.7% from the three as a freshman at Texas. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year and All-SEC Second Team and is projected to be a Top 5 pick in the draft.
Tre Johnson Scouting Report from Givony:
Johnson is a prototype for what many NBA teams are seeking at the wing position, standing 6-6 with a 6-10 wingspan, dynamic shotmaking prowess and the skill level, versatility and aggressiveness to create shots in bunches.
Sixers add more depth in second round of mock draft
After adding some scoring punch with Johnson in Round 1, ESPN's mock draft has the Sixers adding more depth behind Embiid at center with Stanford senior Maxime Raynaud with pick No. 32 in Round 2.
Second-Round Depth: Who is Maxime Raynaud?
Raynaud is a 7-1 big man from France, who averaged 20.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, and connected on 34.7% of his three-point attempts. He was the only player in the country averaging more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Raynaud’s ability to stretch the floor and rebound at a high clip makes him an ideal backup — or even a future frontcourt partner — for Joel Embiid.
