Sixers feel the Heat while the Phillies enjoy the West Coast
The Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center by the Miami Heat 99-90 in Game Six. The Sixers are 0-6 in the conference semi-finals series since 2002. I attended the game on Thursday Night and I was shocked with the effort the Sixers as a team gave in an elimination game in front of their home fans. The Sixers were out-rebounded 49-35 while Miami had 13 Offensive Rebounds. The Sixers fans headed for the exits with 7 minutes left in the game, me included! Joel Embiid was not himself throughout the series; We didn’t see the NBA's leading scorer due to a myriad of reasons including playing through a torn ligament in his thumb and a broken orbital bone, but what about the rest of the team? The 76ers will have a lot of time on their hands to reflect and recover from the 2021-22 season.
The Phillies blew another six-run lead on Thursday night but this time they recovered to beat the Dodgers in Los Angeles 9-7. If this team wants to be contenders, they cannot blow leads the way they have in recent weeks. Bryce Harper and Johan Camargo led the Phillies with three RBI each while Corey Knebel earned his seventh save against his former team. The Phillies had won three of four on this West Coast Road Trip averaging 6.5 Runs per game. This weekend, the Phillies will continue their four-game series with the Dodgers before returning home for six games next week.
