Sixers guard Jared McCain has gotten off to a slow start this season, returning from his knee injury and thumb surgery, which forced him to miss the first six games of the season.

Jared McCain Assigned to Delaware Blue Coats

McCain has returned with a bulky left knee brace and is on a minutes restriction since returning last Tuesday against Chicago.  In his two games so far he has yet to score, going 0-9 from their field in 31 total minutes.

The second-year player from Duke was outstanding in 23 games as a rookie last season, scoring 15.3 points, shooting 46 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from three-point range.

He was expected to be a part of the Sixers exciting young backcourt, but so far has yet to show the same scoring punch that he did last season.  Hopefully this stint with the Blue Coats will help him find a rhythm and get back with the Sixers quickly with their guards Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Quintin Grimes logging a lot of minutes.

The Blue Coats have games on Thursday and Saturday, with the Sixers playing on Friday.

I will be on the call for McCain's Blue Coats game on Saturday at 6pm on the ROKU Channel. Tonight's game will be on ESPN+.

What’s Next for Paul George and Joel Embiid

As for the Sixers game against the Pistons on Friday night, there are no new updates on Paul George, meaning he seems unlikely to play. The team has not made any announcement on the status of Joel Embiid, who missed Tuesday game with the Celtics with right new soreness.

The team will get Dominick Barlow back for the game. He has been out since the second game of the season with a lacerated elbow.
