These 2 Eagles Offensive Starters Out For Sunday’s Game In Cincinnati
The Philadelphia Eagles look to extend their two-game winning streak this Sunday in Cincinnati when they face off with a Bengals team that has also won two straight.
The Eagles had to play the first of four games without Starting Left Tackle Jordan Mailata this past Sunday. Mailata had started 38 of the last 39 games at Left Tackle for Philadelphia before being placed on Injured Reserve with a Hamstring Injury.
If the Eagles are to end their winless streak in Cincinnati (0-4-1 all-time), they will have to do so without multiple starters on offense.
What Eagles Have Been Ruled Out For Sunday's Game In Cincinnati?
On Friday's Injury Report, the Eagles have ruled three players out for Sunday's game and the Bengals have listed one player as Questionable for NFL Week 8.
Starting Right Guard Mekhi Becton left Sunday's game at Metlife Stadium and was diagnosed with a Concussion. Becton has not participated in any Eagles practice this week which means he has not progressed through the NFL Concussion Protocol to allow him back on the field.
Without Becton on the field this Sunday, Tyler Steen will get the start at Right Guard for the Eagles. Steen has come into the Giants and Saints games when Becton sustained injuries. The 24-year-old Offensive Lineman has played well in the opportunities he has gotten at Right Guard.
This is the second straight week that Dallas Goedert has not participated in any practices. Since suffering a Hamstring Injury versus the Browns, Goedert has been rehabbing to return but the temperamental nature of soft tissue injuries makes it difficult to predict a recovery timetable.
Now that Goedert has been officially ruled out, Grant Calcaterra will continue to take on the Starting Tight End role. In the last two games without Goedert, Calcaterra has 5 Catches for 72 Yards in the Eagles' last two games.
The top Injury News coming out of Cincinnati on Friday was that Wide Receiver Tee Higgins was listed as Questionable for Sunday's game. Higgins was a Limited Participant at practice, dealing with a Quad Injury.
The Bengals lack substantive depth at Wide Receiver if they have to play without Tee Higgins. Cincinnati's number three Wide Receiver is Andrei Iosivas who only has 14 catches this season.
Both Bengals Tight Ends Mike Gesicki and Erick All have received more Targets this season compared to Iosivas and the expectation is those guys would see more action without Higgins on Sunday.
The Bengals fans got some good news on Friday ahead of Sunday's matchup in Cincinnati. Head Coach Zac Taylor told the media that Safety Geno Stone and Left Tackle Orlando Brown Jr. will play on Sunday.
The Bengals Defense with Stone returning this week will finally be healthy for the first time since Week One of the 2024 NFL season. In the four games the Bengals Defense dealt with the most injuries, they allowed 32.25 Points Per Game; But in the last two weeks when healthy again, Cincinnati's defense is allowing just 10.5 Points Per game.
