Tyrese Maxey made some major Philadelphia 76ers history against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.

Maxey entered the game with 661 made 3-pointers, which was tied with Kyle Korver for third on the franchise's all-time list. With a made triple in the first quarter of the contest, Maxey passed Korver to take sole control of the No. 3 spot. Now, the only players who have made more 3s in a Sixers uniform than Maxey are Robert Covington and Allen Iverson.

Maxey has steadily improved as a 3-point shooter over the course of his career. He made just 31 triples as a rookie. That number jumped up to 132 in his second season and increased to 160 in his third year. He knocked down a career-high 212 triples last season and he has 127 (and counting) so far this season. He's shot 38 percent from long throughout his career thus far.

Maxey's proficiency from long-range is slightly ironic, as it was concerns about his ability to space the floor (and his size) that led to him falling to Philadelphia with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Maxey now needs just over 60 3s to pass Covington (724) and move in second on Philly's all-time list. He still has a way to go to catch Iverson (885), but if he continues to connect from long-range at such a high rate, he will eventually pass Iverson too and take over the top spot.
