CHESTER, Pa (973espn.com) - The Philadelphia Union have parted ways with midfielder Vincent Nogueira, agreeing to mutually terminate the veteran's contract due to a "personal health issue."

“We want to thank Vincent for his contributions to the club over the last two years and we wish him the best, both personally and professionally,” Union Sporting Director Earnie Stewart said. “At this time, it was our desire to enable him to be with his family at home in France.”

Nogueira, 28, a native of Bescanon, France, joined the Union from FC Sochaux in January of 2014, appearing in 64 matches with 58 starts and ending his time in Chester with nine goals and three assists.

“I want to thank Philadelphia Union for their understanding of my situation and wish my teammates well going forward,” Nogueira said.

The Union are currently atop the Eastern Conferece table with 23 points, four clear of both New York and Montreal, and will return to MLS action against NYCFC on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
