When local sports teams win, it’s good for local businesses; Everyone from Bars and Restaurants to Retail Stores and Supermarkets all benefit when the "Home team" wins.  It's a part of community pride and whether you spend your dollars at ACME or Dunkin or Wendy's or Yesterday's Creekside Tavern or Randazzo's in Ocean City, everywhere you go you find fellow sports fans!

The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will be back on the road this Sunday broadcasting Live at Yesterday’s Creekside Tavern in Marmora for our Eagles pregame show!  Come out and geared up for what we expect to be another Birds' win! The Eagles are 2-0 heading into their first NFC East divisional matchup of the 2022 season as they head down to Washington to face off with the Commanders and former Eagles Quarterback Carson Wentz.  Some people are already talking about the Superbowl for the Eagles this season, but I say let's not get ahead of ourselves, there's a long season ahead of us.  The Eagles played well on Monday Night against the Vikings and their 24-7 win was in front of a loud home crowd.  Jalen Hurts looked good, completing 11 of his first 11 passes and if it wasn't for six penalties on the Offensive Line, Hurts could have finished the game with more than 333 yards passing and a spectacular 108.7 Quarterback rating.  The Birds did all their scoring in the first half versus the Vikings but couldn’t get into the endzone in the second half, just another example of how there is more work to be done.  They’ll need to play complete game for all four quarters this Sunday against Washington to go 3-0.

The Phillies have won their last two games by the slimmest of margins after a miserable five game losing streak.  They need another win against the Braves on Friday night to guarantee they split the final home series of the season against their division rivals.  The Atlanta Braves ( 93-57) trail the New York Mets by 1.5 games for the lead of the National Leahue East.  This weekend is an opportunity for the Phillies to convince their fans that they are for real as a playoff contender, something they haven't been able to call themselves for a decade!

On Saturday’s show, Pete Thompson and Mike Carlin join me in the studio as we will talk about the Eagles and break down their victory against the Vikings while previewing Sunday’s matchup.  The Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan checks in from Las Vegas with his smart plays for this weekend's sports action. In Hour Two, we will talk Phillies Baseball and go “On the Mound with Tommy Greene” brought to you by Aaron Bada’s GSF Golf & Performance Club.  Tommy will give his unique perspective on a Phillies team that has played inconsistent all month.

On Sunday we will be Broadcasting Live from Yesterday’s Creekside Tavern in Marmora for our Eagles pregame show!  Joining The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will be 3-time All-Big Ten Linebacker and former NFL LB Brad Quast along with Mike Carlin.  We will get you pumped up for the Eagles showdown with their division rival!  Every Sunday we hear from Fox 29 Sports Anchor Scott Grayson for his “Keys to the Game” brought to you by Van Brill Pools.  Grayson looks at what the Birds need to do to win in Washington.  In Hour Two, we will talk to my Fantasy Football Guru Brian Hartley, brought to you each week by Padula Masonry.  The Guru gives his advice on who to start and sit in Fantasy Football on NFL Sunday. Come out and join us at Yesterday’s in Marmora for Drink specials and more!

That's Saturday and Sunday on The Locker Room with Billy Schweim every weekend from 10am to Noon on 97.3 ESPN Radio!

10 Favorite Things about Cape May County, NJ

The history of Cape May County predates the formation of the United States of America by about 100 years as it was one of the first counties established in what was originally known as the West New Jersey Provence. Cape May County's historical records go back as far as 1685 and the County was originally established in 1692. Cape May County has been a huge part of my life and that of my family's for decades, so I wanted to share with you my favorite aspects of the southern most County in the state of New Jersey.
