Some sad news happened at a WWE house show in Dublin, Ireland this week.

WWE champion Seth Rollins suffered a torn AC/MCL and will be out of action for 6-9 months.

The news was first reported by Johnathan Coachman of ESPN, which was later confirmed by WWE.

The timing of the injury to Rollins couldn't have come at a worse time being that he was scheduled to defend his championship at Survivor Series later this month against rival Roman Reigns.

Survivor Series is viewed upon as one of the entertainment company's core four pay per view events. The timeline of 6-9 months would also have Rollins miss Royal Rumble in January and Wrestlemania 32 in April.

The timing also couldn't be worse for the company in the fact that many of their marquee stars are off television for a variety of reasons.

John Cena is off filming a reality show, while Brock Lesnar is working just a part-time schedule. Randy Orton is also out with an injury and not due back until next year.

The World Heavyweight Championship will now be stripped of Rollins and a tournament will now take place at Survivor Series which will be held in Atlanta.
