The Eagles played so badly in the first half that our neighbors opted to mow their lawn at halftime and the second half. I was tempted to do yard work, but instead switched over to the NFL Red Zone.

Three stars

1. Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield (30-47 for 347 yards and 2 TDs).
2. Bucs linebacker Lavonte David (2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble).
3. Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans (8 receptions for 94 yards, 1 TD).

Eagles’ best play

Running back Saquon Barkley set up a touchdown with a 59-yard scamper early in the third quarter.

Eagles’ worst play

The Eagles blew a chance to make it a one-score game when Jalen Hurts fumbled on a sack by David. Bucs DT Ben Stille recovered it to end the threat.

Turning point

See Eagles worst play. After Hurts’ turnover, McLaughlin kicked a 52-yard field goal to put Tampa ahead by 17  points and send Eagles fans streaming out of the stadium.

Did you notice?

Cornerback Isaiah Rogers blocked Chase McLaughlin’s PAT attempt in the third quarter. Cornerback Kelee Ringo scooped it up and returned it for a 2-point conversion. … Eagles WRs A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) didn’t play. Neither did RT Lane Johnson (concussion).… Hurts was sacked 6 times.… WRs Parris Campbell (4-17), Jahan Dotson (2-11) and John Ross (1-6) combined for 7 receptions for 34 yards and a TD.
