Eagles Add To Secondary By Signing Will Parks

One move after another, the Eagles are retooling their defense.

On Saturday Philadelphia reportedly agreed to a deal with former Broncos safety WillParks.

Parks, 25, appeared in 14 games for Denver last season, finishing with 32 tackles, one sack, one interception and and two passes defended. During his time in Denver, he has played in the slot, free safety, while also contributing heavily on special teams, which will likely be part of his role in Philadelphia as well.

Former NFL safety Nick Ferguson from 104.3 The Fan in Denver, says Parks is a better player than advertised.

"People look at Will and say that's not one of these blockbuster acquisitions," Ferguson explained on The Sports Bash. "He played safety, corner and dime linebacker, and the only reason he didn't really crack the starting lineup was you had two higher draft picks in front of him."

A former sixth-rounder, the Philadelphia native, has spent his first four NFL seasons with the Broncos where he made 15 career starts.

"He is very versatile, and can play special teams if you need him to," Ferguson said. "He is a do everything guy, you need to have that Swiss army knife in today's NFL and Will Parks can cover all types of guys"

Parks will compete for a role in the secondary that also includes new cornerback Darius Slay and safeties Rodney McLeod and Jalen Mills, who appears to be moving to safety after signing a new deal to return to the team.

Other newcomers to the defense are linebacker Jatavis Brown and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave.
