The Sixers have just under 10 games left in what has been a miserable season, but they are hopeful that their ineptitude can add talent to their roster via the 2025 NBA Draft.

CBS Sports published their most recent NBA Mock Draft, with the Sixers landing Texas guard Tre Johnson with the fifth overall pick.

Credit where credit is due – Johnson had one heck of a season at Texas, putting up 20 points on 43% shooting from the floor, 40% from 3-point range, and 87% from the stripe while dishing out a 2.7 to 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio. That was all while being the focal point of opposing defenses every single night. That's not to say there isn't room for improvement in his decision-making, but his scoring ability and positional size clearly translate, and his efficiency proved to be better than advertised.

The 6-foot-6 freshman Johnson averaged 19.9 points per game on almost 40% from 3-point range during his freshman campaign. He did this while being the No. 1 option in the Longhorns' offense each and every night.

With the Sixers hopeful to get back key players like Joel Embiid, Paul George, Jared McCain, and Tyrese Maxey next season, adding a player like Johnson would be a huge addition and could help the Sixers become a contender again sooner rather than later.

There is still a possibility the Sixers could get bounced out of the draft altogether.  If the teams' pick falls outside the Top 6, they have to ship it to Oklahoma City to complete the Al Horford trade from a few years ago.

Given the Sixers' injuries and lack of youth this season, adding a talent like Johnson could add much-needed excitement to a team that could use something to cheer about.
