A former Cape-Atlantic League standout has been nominated for a major collegiate award.

Rutgers senior Bo Melton was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list on Thursday morning, putting him in the mix to be recognized as one of the best receivers in college football at year’s end.

Melton, who announced he was returning for a fifth season back in December, led the Scarlet Knights with 47 catches for 648 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, including a season-high 150 yards and two touchdowns against Illinois.

The Cedar Creek alum, has 109 catches for 1,393 yards and eights touchdowns as a receiver and another 114 yards and two scores as a rusher.

His explosive plays make him a possible NFL Draft candidate in the April 2022 draft.

While at Cedar Creek, Melton played for head coach Tim Watson, and finished his senior season with 51 receptions for 766 yards and nine touchdowns, adding 451 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound senior was among eight players added to the Biletnikoff watch list on Thursday, which goes to the best receiver in college football and is voted on by its selection committee of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers and past winners.
