Former Eagles QB Joe Callahan Joining Holy Spirit Spartans Coaching Staff
Former Holy Spirit Spartans quarterback Joe Callahan will be returning to the school he called home, joining head coach Andrew DiPasquale's staff as the teams QB coach.
Callahan, a 2011 Holy Spirit graduate, originally signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2016. After that he spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens and the Detroit Lions.
He spent training camp ahead of the 2018 season in Philadelphia with Eagles where he went 28-47 for 262 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He was a part of the quarterback room that included Carson Wentz, Nick Foles and Nate Sudfeld.
The Absecon resident appeared in one game with Green Bay, completing 5-of-7 passes for 11 yards during the 2017 season with the Packers.
While at Holy Spirit, Callahan recorded 3,330 passing yards and 40 TDs and went 12-0 as a senior. He helped lead the Spartans to a state title in 2010 and was named all-conference and All-South Jersey.
At Wesley, Callahan excelled, throwing for 5,063 yards and 55 TDs as a senior, becoming the first NCAA Division III quarterback ever to throw for 5,000 yards in a season.
The Spartans are coming off a surprising 9-2 season and will be a team to watch in 2024. The team returns quarterback Ty Costabile, who threw for 1,609 yards, 21 touchdowns and just seven interceptions as a sophomore in 2023.
