Report: Dawn Staley ‘wouldn’t ignore’ Sixers’ Calls
South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley is considered on of the best in her sport, earning the 2020 Naismith Award as the nations top coach.
According to Sports Anchor/Reporter Mike Uva from WACH in South Carolina, Staley would be open to have discussions with the Sixers' if the team reached out to her.
Staley of course has Philadelphia ties. She grew up in the city, and was the national high school player of the year during her final season at Murrell Dobbins Tech in Philadelphia. Later she was the head women's coach at Temple University from 2000-2008.
The article claims that Staley is happy with her current position at USC, but would not ignore the opportunity to coach her hometown team if they came calling and offered her an interview and break the barrier as the NBA's first female head coach.
So far the names that have been associated with the Sixers opening have been Ty Lue, Jay Wright, Jason Kidd and John Lucas.
