After dropping a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets in the conference semi-finals, the Los Angeles Clippers look to be doing some restructuring. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has reported that the team has cut ties with head coach Doc Rivers.

This news is shocking as now another premier head coach is available with multiple teams still have head coaching vacancies. These teams have not wasted time in reaching out to Rivers about a head coaching positions.

Marc J. Spears of ESPN has reported that the Sixers were one of the teams to have already reached out to Rivers about a head coaching deal. It looked as if the race for the Sixers' job has now added a third name.

This firing strongly affects the Sixers in their hunt for their next head coach. As we know Ty Lue has been a key name reported from the beginning, but that could change now.

With the Clippers' head coaching spot up for grabs, Lue might be off the table. There is a strong chance the team could promote Lue from assistant coach to head coach now with Rivers gone.

This extended process of hunting for a head coach could potentially cost the Sixers their top guy. Lue is reported to have an upcoming meeting with the Sixers, but their chances of landing him have been altered greatly.

It is not every day a team has a chance to acquire a coach to the caliber of Doc Rivers. That being said, his history of being on the wrong end of historic comebacks in the playoffs has to be concerning as the Sixers look to find a coach who can lead them to a championship.
