Sports Talk with Brodes: Sixers Lazy Defense Results in Road Loss to the Hawks
The Philadelphia Sixers do it to us again as they fall to the Atlanta Hawks on the road which now results in a 9-16 record on the road. Trae Young absolutely dominated the game recording a double double in the first quarter! He finished with 39 points and 18 assists as he went to the free throw line 20 times. Ben Simmons had 31 points and both of these young stars were selected into the All-Star game. The Sixers had their worst defensive game of the season as the Hawks continuously ran a pick and roll to abuse them. They got to the rim at ease and got the ball to where ever they wanted on the floor. Matisse Thybulle got into foul trouble early, Joel Embiid wasn't good as John Collins recorded 20 rebounds. Al Horford did not play which effected the bench and speaking of the bench, it was putrid except for Mike Scott. Furkan Korkmaz could not hit a shot. Raul Neto was absolutely atrocious. Zhaire Smith was -13 in nine minutes of play. Awful game for the Sixers knowing what's coming up on the schedule in the next few games.
