Sixers Make Hilarious Post Thanking Mike Muscala for Memorable 3-Point Shot
Philadelphia Sixers fans will forever remember the name Mike Muscala.
However, they will likely remember him more for a shot he made for another team rather than any shot he made while playing in Philadelphia.
Muscala briefly played for the Sixers during the 2018-2019 season, appearing in 47 games, before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for for Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanović and Mike Scott.
He was quickly traded from the Clippers to the Lakers and then signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2019 offseason.
It was in Oklahoma City, during a game in the Orland bubble, that Sixers fans will always remember.
The team posted that shot in a social media post as Muscala announced his retirement from the NBA. That three-point shot going in helped Oklahoma City win a pretty much meaningless game against the Heat ensured the Thunder's protected 2020 pick would fall to No. 21 overall - outside the protected Top 20 in the 2020 draft.
That pick, No. 21 overall, turned out to be Tyrese Maxey.
Maxey has gone on to become one of the top players in the NBA, making the All-Star team during the 2023-24 season, being the the league Most Improved Player and inking a 5-year max contract worth $204 million.
Muscala averaged 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, hitting .342 from 3-Point range in his 47 games with the Sixers.
One again, thank you Mike Muscala not only for a fine NBA career, but for hitting that shot and allowing the Sixers to land Tyrese Maxey.
