Three Eagles Starters Status Uncertain After Wednesday’s Practice
The Philadelphia Eagles are on a two-game winning streak since their Bye Week with victories over the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.
But the team has sustained injuries in both games leaving them shorthanded and necessitated roster moves. Before last weekend, the Eagles placed starting Left Tackle Jordan Mailata on Injured Reserve.
Mailata is unavailable for three more games and will not be back on the field for the Eagles until the November 14th game versus the Washington Commanders. The Eagles have signed Offensive Lineman Jack Driscoll to the active roster to provide more offensive line depth.
Three Eagles Starters Did Not Participate In Wednesday's Practice
Philadelphia's Starting Right Guard Mekhi Becton is dealing with a Concussion that he sustained early in Sunday's game against the Giants. Becton will need to progress through the NFL Concussion Protocol over the next 48 hours in order to be cleared and available for Sunday's game in Cincinnati.
The Eagles will potentially be without two of their five starting offensive lineman when they play the Bengals. Tyler Steen has played well at Right Guard in the two games he has come in for Becton this season.
Linebacker Zack Baun did not participate in Wednesday's Practice due to a Shoulder Issue. Baun has been on the field for over 95 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps this season and has the most Solo Tackles for Philadelphia this season (37).
If the Eagles will not have Baun available for Sunday's game in Cincinnati, the expectation is the Linebacker responsibilities would be split between Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Oren Burks. While Trotter Jr. is the better athlete and 3rd Down Linebacker, Burks has more NFL experience and is considered to be a better Run Stopping Linebacker.
The name on the Injury Report that was not a surprise was Tight End Dallas Goedert. Since sustaining a Hamstring Injury on October 13th, the Eagles Starting Tight End has not participated in any practices. Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni is leaving the door open for Goedert to return soon since the team has not placed him on Injured Reserve.
In the last two weeks without Goedert, the number one Tight End responsibility has fallen to Grant Calcaterra. The 25-year-old Tight End has 5 Catches for 72 Yards in the Eagles' last two games.
The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Cincinnati to play the Bengals in NFL Week 8. The Eagles will be on the road for their second straight game, so no pregame tailgating at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
