When Rutgers introduced Greg Schiano as its head coach two weeks ago, they were hoping some recruits would take as much notice as the Scarlet Knights alumni did.

It appears to have worked.

Cedar Creek defensive back/wide receiver Malachi "Max" Melton will join his brother Bo at Rutgers, flipping from his previous verbal commitment to Purdue.  Melton made the announcement official today from his twitter account, saying the he will be representing his home state of New Jersey.

Melton had a solid senior season, catching 60 passes for 799 yards and seven touchdowns, adding 214 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Melton's brother Bo, a wide receiver, just finished his junior season as a Scarlet Knight. His father, Gary, played football for Rutgers and his mom Vicky was a basketball player.

The Mays Landing native just completed his senior season for the Pirates.

Melton had seriously considered Temple because of his relationship with assistant coach Fran Brown, Brown is now on the Schiano's staff at Rutgers.
