This Eagles front office rising star could leave the nest for new job
One of the unlikely success stories in Philadelphia Sports is the story of Howie Roseman. After starting out as an Intern after earning his Juris Doctor Degree from Fordham Law School, he served as Eagles Salary Cap Staff Counsel for three years.
Roseman climbed the Front Office ladder from Director of Football Administration to Vice President of Football Administration to becoming the youngest person to be named an NFL executive in three decades when he was named General Manager in 2010.
After Head Coach Chip Kelly's power grab, forcing the Eagles to strip Roseman's administrative authority, Howie Roseman was determined to become a better NFL executive.
Since assuming the role of Executive Vice President of Football Operations in 2015, Roseman has built three teams that have reached the Super Bowl, winning two championships, along with eight postseason appearances in the last 10 years.
During that same time period, numerous former Eagles Front Office personnel have landed other NFL jobs thanks to working with Howie Roseman.
That list includes:
*Pittsburgh Steelers Assistant General Manager Andy Weidl (Eagles VP of Player Personnel, 2019-2022)
*Cleveland Browns Assistant General Manager Catherine Raîche (Eagles VP of football Operations, 2021-2022 and Football operations coordinator, 2019-2021)
*Chicago Bears Assistant General Manager Ian Cunningham (Eagles, Director of college scouting, 2017-2018, Assistant director of player personnel, 2019-2020, Director of player personnel in 2021)
*New York Giants Assistant General Manager Brandon Brown (Eagles Director of pro scouting, 2019-2020, and Director of Player Personnel for the Pro scouting department plus college scouting in 2021)
*Las Vegas Raiders Senior Personnel Executive Anthony Patch (Eagles Senior Director of College Scouting. 2016-2024)
*Denver Broncos Director of Player Personnel Jordon Dizon (Eagles National Scout, 2022-2024)
Is This the Next Eagles Front Office Member to leave the Nest for a new NFL Job?
On Monday, the Miami Dolphins announced they have submitted a list of six front office members with other NFL teams that they want to interview for their open General Manager job. Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel will be an active participant in the search for a New General Manager in Miami.
On the list of requested interviews is Philadelphia Eagles Assistant General Manager Alec Halaby. Originally an Intern in the Eagles' football operations department, this Harvard Graduate has worked as Player Personnel Analyst (2010-2011), and Special Assistant to the General Manager (2012-2015).
When Howie Roseman was named Eagles' Executive VP of Football Operations, Alec Halaby was named Philadelphia's VP of Football Operations and Strategy in 2016. After holding that position for six year, Halaby was promoted to Assistant General Manager ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
In previous offseasons, Halaby has been interviewed for General Manager openings with the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and Washington Commanders. After working 15-plus years with one of the best executives in the NFL, Howie Roseman, the 39 year old Halaby has one of the best resumes for an NFL General Manager opening.
