Former Eagles QB Carson Wentz signs with Chiefs

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will continue his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a report Monday night by Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz.

Wentz, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft, will join Andy Ried and back up Patrick Mahomes in KC with the Chiefs.

Wentz helped the Eagles win their only Super Bowl, helping them earn the No. 1 overall seed going 11-2 in 13 starts in 2017.

Now 31, Wentz is heading to his fifth team, and fourth in four years.

After the Eagles traded him to Indianapolis, they traded him to Washington, who released him after one season.  Last season he landed in LA with the Rams and started one game, completing 17-of-24 passes for 163 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Rams’ 21-20, Week 18 win over the 49ers. He adding 57 yards rushing and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Wentz was 35-32-1 in Philadelphia, and is 12-13 since leaving.

His best season came in 2017, when he threw 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns and only seven interceptions, leading the Eagles to 11-2 mark before an injury ended his season.

Wentz helped lead the 2019 Eagles to the playoffs,  throwing for 4,039 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

He was traded to the Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 first-round pick.
