On Tuesday ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania dropped a Sixers bombshell, stating the guard Tyrese Maxey challenged All-Star center and former NBA league MVP Joel Embiid to be on time for team activities.

Per Charania:

Maxey challenged Embiid to be on time to team activities, calling out the 2022-23 league MVP about being late "for everything" and how it impacts the locker room, from other players to the coaching staff, sources briefed on the meeting told ESPN.

However former Sixers guard Lou Williams, who is a part of the FanDuel TV show called 'Run it Back; with Michelle Beadle and Chandler Parsons, says this whole thing is being blown out of proportion.

"I ended up on the phone with a few guys from the 76ers," Williams said on the show. By all accounts, this was kind of blown out of proportion (the idea of Maxey calling Embiid out). From my understanding, they just had a conversation on accountability."

Williams said the conversation was more about being on the same page, understanding that if you aren't going to play in the games, be present at team meetings, and on time. He continued by saying it wasn't so much Maxey challenging Embiid but insisted that the two teammates were just fine.

"They were sitting next to each other when we were on the phone, Williams stated. laughing and giggling".

We might get to see Embiid, Maxey, and Paul George on the floor together for the first time this season tonight when the Sixers face the Memphis Grizzles on the road.  You can listen to the game at 8pm on 97.3 ESPN.
